Welcome to Homer Township, the South-western most township in Medina County, Ohio. Established in 1831, the township remains rural and agricultural with a large Amish population.

Trustee meetings are held the last Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.  If a meeting falls on a National Holiday, the meeting will be held on the following work day. Zoning Commission meetings are held the second Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Board of Zoning Appeals meets the first Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and as needed. Homer Township Hall is located at 8964 Spencer Rd. (SR 301 North of SR 224).

HOMER TOWNSHIP

PUBLIC HEARING

 

     The Homer Twp. Zoning Commission will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at 7:30 p.m. at the Homerville Community Center, 8964 Spencer Rd., Homerville, Oh. The purpose of this hearing is to receive public comment on a proposed amendment to the Homer Twp. Zoning Resolution to rezone five parcels of land at the intersection of St. Rt. 301 and Jeffrey Rd. 

     The parcels are currently zoned R-2 Residential and would become a B-1 Business District if approved.

     The parcels that would be rezoned and their owners are as follows:

    10 acres at 11611 Jeffrey Rd., W. Salem, Oh – Melinda K. Clifford, Owner

    45 acres at 10259 Spencer Rd., W. Salem, Oh. – Melinda K. Clifford, Trustee

    11.7 acres at 11701 Jeffrey Rd., Homerville, Oh. – County Line Land Company LLC

    48.9 acres at 11741 Jeffrey Rd., Homerville, Oh. – Herman & Tena A. Hostetler

    12.3 acres at 10150 Spencer Rd., W. Salem, Oh. – Joe J & Katie J Yoder

     If you are unable to attend due to Covid restrictions, written comments may be Emailed to the Homer Twp. Zoning Commission at HomerZC@outlook.com, or mailed to Homer Township Zoning Commission, P. O. Box 32, Homerville, Ohio 44235.

    After the conclusion of this Public Hearing, the matter will be submitted to the Homer Twp. Trustees for their action.

TOWNSHIP NEWS

Homer Township will have a levy for Roads & Bridges on the ballot for the May 4, 2021 election. The levy is for 2.5 mil and 5 years, which replaces the levy that expired at the end of 2019.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

 

Homer Township Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing Thursday May 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Homerville Community Center, 8946 Spencer Road, to consider the Conditional Permit No. CP-20-1 being requested by David M. Swartzentruber for parcel #019-13B-08-012, Homerville, Ohio for a family-based business involving the dismantling of wooden pallets.

The Homer Township Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing Thursday May 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Homerville Community Center, 8946 Spencer Road, to consider the Conditional Permit No. CP-20-2 being requested by Amos D. Schrock for parcel #019-13C-34-010, Homerville, Ohio for the use of a skid house.
